This is a collaborative project involving two sections of eighth grade U.S. history students. The classes are creating an interactive timeline dating from 1800-1860. Because there is a wealth of information to cover in that time period, this project was designed to give each student an opportunity to become an "expert" on a particular event that took place during that period. By creating a web page and giving an oral presentation on their findings, the students will essentially teach one another. This project will coincide with the regular curriculum. However, our hope is that that by doing this, it will further enhance our understanding of the intricate details of the many events that took place in the first half of the 19th century. We also hope to continue this project in our studies of the Civil War, post-Civil War, and 20th century.
