As a cumulative class project to summarize Un Été Pas comme les Autres we are going to design an on-line picture book that will retell and illustrate the story, as well as provide a vocabulary and grammar review for yourself and your classmates. Using the summaries as a base, each student will provide captioned illustrations for 2 chapters of the book. These illustrations may be posed photos of classmates in character taken with a digital camera (we will have to assign roles to each classmate so that the characters are consistent), photos from Internet sites (try artoday.com , scanned photos from books or postcards, video clips (via I-movie), etc. Please keep track of all sources you use.

You will also be asked, for each of your assigned chapters, to write 5 review questions (with and without answers), to create one verb exercise (with and without answers) on an assigned topic, and to create one grammar exercise (with and without answers) on an assigned topic. Each set of questions and answers should be saved on a separate document labeled with the chapter number. You will therefore have six documents per chapter: questions; questions with answers; verb exercise; verb exercise with answers; grammar exercise; and grammar exercise with answers. In addition you must develop a French-French vocabulary list for at least ten words in each chapter.

All work should be word processed on WORD in 12 point Comic MS font and e-mailed to your teacher (ewagner@germantownacademy.org) as an attachment for editing. Please use Word's numbering options. All of this will help with the editing.

Students will be graded on cooperation, effort, creativity, meeting deadlines and accuracy. The project will be worth a major test grade (100 points). This is a long term project and students are expected to work on it throughout the month ahead. It cannot successfully be left to the last minute.

This project will help you, your classmates and students who will read this book in the future better understand the story and review vocabulary, verbs and grammar. We hope you will enjoy creating this learning tool for others.

This project designed and implemented by Emily Wagner, foreign language coordinator, for the students of Germantown Academy Middle School. Web page design and technical assistance furnished by Carol Siwinski, Curricular Technology Specialist.
