Eighth grade Spanish C students have read the book,
Un Grabado de Goya. Each student is responsible to write a screenplay for
one of the chapters, appoint a cast, write cue cards, serve as director when
his or her chapter is videotaped, and edit the videotape in the production
of the movie, Un Grabado de Goya.

-
Each student will be assigned to write a screenplay
for one of the chapters of the book. He or she will incorporate the essential
parts of the chapter into dialog with narration at the beginning and end
of each scene as necessary. The screenplay will be written as a homework
assignment.
-
When the revised homework assignment is returned, each student will select
his or her cast members and write cue cards for the scene. Students will
make copies of their screenplays to distribute to cast members for practice
and bring in props for their scenes.
-
On the day of taping, students will direct their scenes. Actors should be
attentive to pronunciation and to making their parts seem natural.
-
The teacher will download the scenes to computers in the Middle School CALC.
Students will spend four periods in the CALC working with iMovie to edit
their scenes.
-
On the first day, they will receive an iMovie tutorial.
On the second day they will edit their movies and ad titles and credits.
On the third day they will add the soundtrack and begin voiceover narrations.
On the fourth day they will finish the voiceover narrations and add music.
-
The teacher will download all of the scenes to a
digital videotape and transfer the movie to VHS format.
-
The students will view their collective production
in class.

By participating in this project students will practice
composition and speaking skills in Spanish. They will be able to observe the
effectiveness of their attempts to sound natural in the language. They will
also learn how to use the iMovie application.
