Task

You will write a review of your favorite restaurant. You should include the name and the location of the restaurant, the type of restaurant, e.g., family, elegant dining, etc., the type of food that is served, the service, the prices, some specialties, your favorite "plato," and reasons why you would recommend it. You will also create an appropriate graphic (an original photograph, an original drawing, or an original logo) to accompany your review. You will copy your review into the Power Point application, and you will scan in your graphic. All the reviews will be merged and presented as a booklet on the GA website.

 

PROCEDURE

  1. Open your GA main Server account. Save all your work to the server.
  2. You will write a review of your favorite restaurant in MS Word. Before you begin to type change the spell checking feature to Spanish.
  3. You should include the name and the location of the restaurant, the type of restaurant, the type of food that is served, the service, the prices, some specialties, your favorite "plato," and reasons why you would recommend it.
  4. Have your review proof read by a peer and then by your teacher. Make sure that all grammar usage is correct.
  5. Create an appropriate graphic. It can be an original photograph, an original drawing or an orginal logo.
  6. Scan you graphic to digitize it.
  7. Open Power Point to create your presentation. Change the spell checking feature to Spanish. Open your review and copy and paste your review into a slide.
  8. Add your illustration to your slide. Check your work again for correct grammar usage and spelling.
  9. Print out a copy of your presentation. Use the 3 slide per page method.
  10. Give a copy of your presentation to your teacher to be graded according to the project rubric.

TIME LINE


January 8, 1999:
Meet in the MSCALC for an introduction to Power Point.

January 11:
Work on Power Point in the MSCALC.

January 19:
Lesson on scanning in the MSCALC.

January 19 - February 5. 1999
Work independently in the MSCALC or the Language Lab to complete project. All work is due by the conclusion of the school day on February 5, 1999.

 

CONCLUSION

By completing this project, you have helped to compile a restaurant guide to the favorite area restaurants of your class. You have utilized and expanded your Spanish vocabulary by composing these restaurant reviews. You have gained experience using Power Point and scanning.
