The purpose
of this experiment was to investigate whether an in office or
drugstore bought whitening method shows more change in shade.
To carry out this experiment an in office and drug store whitening
kits were bought. 12 human teeth were obtained. A rating scale
was located. This scale was used to identify the original color
of all 12 teeth and the changes they endured after the methods
had been tested. The 12 teeth were then seperated into 2 main
groups (A and B) In each group there were 6 teeth. Each group
was separated into 2 smaller groups. It ended up being grouped
A 1-3, B 1-3, A 4-6, and B 4-6. On the teeth in group A 1-3 and
B 1-3 the in office whitening method was used. On A 4-6 and B
4-6 the drug store method was tested. The solution for all sets
were left on for a period of 24 hours then taken off and put on
again. This process was repeated twice.
The in office method proved to be more affective than the drug
store method. The in office method lightened more in shade.
