The purpose of this experiment was to see if National Public
Radio(NPR) would make the plants germinate faster then those not
exposed to NPR. This experiment required two sets of plants with
50 plant in each, a radio, 100 Dixie cups and water. First the
seeds were planted in about 10 grams of potting soil each. Then
the seeds were watered as needed with 30 milliliters per cup.
For the group exposed to NPR the radio was played from 7:00 am
till 6:00 PM. These steps were repeated everyday until the plants
were not growing anymore. For the plants not exposed to NPR do
not play the radio but just give them water as needed. This was
done until the plants show no more signs of growth. The growth
of plants was measured by how many plants grew each day.
After completing the experiment, it was found that the plants
exposed to NPR germinated faster it had the most plants germinated
of the two groups. The group not exposed to NPR had five less
plants germinated then the NPR group. The group exposed to NPR
had 19 out of 50 plants grown at the end of the experiment. The
second group had 14 out of 50 plants grown at the end of the experiment.
The group exposed to NPR was the best group.
