The purpose of this experiment was to find out which carpet cleaner
cleaned carpet stains the best and if the most effective one cost the
least amount of money. In order for this experiment to be completed,
three different types of carpet cleaners (Resolve, Woolite, and 409)
and 8 pieces or carpet (12.5 cm by 12.5 cm) of both Pile and Loopy
carpet were needed. The 150 ml of pasta sauce soaked in the carpet
for one minute, was then wiped up by paper towels and dried for one
day. Next, the 30 ml of carpet cleaners was poured onto the stained
carpets and sat for 3 minutes. Then it was scrubbed 15 scrubs one
way and 15 the other to get most of the stain out. 24 hours later the
cleanliness of the carpets was compared.
Once the results had been tallied, the 409 carpet cleaner had cleaned
the stain out the best for both Pile and Loopy carpets. Resolve
cleaned the Loopy carpet better than the Woolite did, but the Woolite
cleaned the Pile carpet better than the Resolve. The 409 also coasted
the least amount of money per once. Then came Resolve and finally
Woolite. So, the most effective carpet cleaner coasted the least
amount of money per once and the least effective coasted the most amount of money.
