How
Different Genders React To Different Smells
The
purpose of this experiment was to find out how genders react to
twelve different perfumes/musks. The perfumes were not labled
by name, but by number, and there was a mystery scent as the control,
which was just water. When the male and female participants took
part in this experiment, the genders would recieve a sheet of
paper, with their name, and other information would be recorded.
In this experiment, nine describing emotions were used for the
genders to express their feelings about the perfumes and musks.
After choosing a scent, the genders would smell the scent chosen
on a clean cottonball, and put thhe number of the scent (ranging
from one to twelve, and a check for the mystery), to the next
emotion they feel when the male or female smells the scent. This
is repeated a second time, and a third for the mystery scent.
After
completing this experiment, it was found that the male participants
liked the female perfumes and used the words enraged, luscious,
blissful, and blanched and the women chose most of the musks and
chose the emotions blanched, airy, luscious, tart, and strong
for the most part. Both genders chose luscious and blanched together
as a group.
