The purpose of this experiment was to see how the mimosa pudica reacted to touch. To test this sensitive plant, objects such as a ruler, a feather, a pencil, a piece of wire, a finger, and a piece of chalk were used to hit the plant. To carry out this experiment, five mimosa pudica's were purchased. After all the materials were gathered, each plant was hit once and recorded using a stopwatch with a second hand. When touched the mimosa pudica closes up. It responds to touch also known as thigmotropism.
After doing the experiment a five times
with each object, the times it
took for the plant to react were averaged. This proving that a
finger got
the fastest reaction out of the plant. The wire took the longest
reaction,
proving that the finger that was the thickest took the shortest
time for the
mimosa pudica to react.
