The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effectiveness of different brands of plant food on plant growth. To carry out this experiment, 100 brassica rapa seeds were planted into individual cells divided into four groups. Three groups were watered with a mixture of plant food and water and a control group was given plain tap water. The plant foods tested were Schultz Plant Food, Miracle-Gro, and Peter's Plant Food. Each plant in each group was observed over twenty-one day period during which measurements were taken.
After completing the experiment, it was found that the plants which were fed plain tap water had the highest rate of germination and growth. The next highest rate of growth was Miracle-Gro Plant Food. The low rate of germination was a significant limitation to this experiment.
