The purpose of this experiment was to find
out which kind of paper towel could absorb the most milliliters
of water. To carry out this experiment, three types of paper towels
were bought. The three kinds of paper towels were Bounty, Viva
and Best-Yet. To find the absorbency of the paper towel, a pan
and a graduated cylinder were used. After measured with a graduated
cylinder that there where 200 ml of water in the pan, the paper
towel was put into the water. Then the paper towel was picked
up and was left to soak until there was no dripping water coming
from the paper towel. Again using the graduated cylinder the amount
of milliliters that the paper towel picked up was determined by
the amount of milliliters left after soaking the paper towel subtracted
from the 200 milliliters that started in the pan. The experiment
was redone once with each paper towel, and the average was then
found.
After completing the experiment it was found that Bounty picked
up the most water. Bounty's average was the largest of the three
types. Its average was 40.3 ml of water. The second best absorbent
paper towel was Viva. Viva's average for the amount of milliliters
picked up was 38.6 ml. Best-Yet was the least absorbent of the
three paper towels. Its average was 37 ml.
