After reading L’Histoire d’une Revanche, students will choose to portray a major character of the novel. They will write and perform a monologue explaining thier character's importance to the plot and then, recreate a scene between their character and another major character. They will each write a script in the target language, perform a monologue and a memorable scene with their classmates, film the scenes in groups, and then, edit their movies.
1. Students will be assigned to write a monologue for one of the characters and a film script for one of the chapters in L’Histoire d’une Revanche. They must choose a key scene that is essential to the plot, including dialogue and narration.
2. Students will familiarize themselves with the iMovie camera by filming classmates and practicing various techniques in class before actually filming their movies.
3. Students will take a tutorial on iMovie editing in the CALC room in order to learn how to use video effects, add and delete clips, include sounds, music, transitions, titles and credits.
4. After their screenplays have been corrected, students should make copies of their scripts and assign roles to the other character(s) being portrayed in their scene. They should organize and practice their scenes before shooting any tape in order to get the footage they want and to avoid reshooting. All lines should be memorized.
5. Students will film more footage than needed in order to be able to edit and create a better film. Students will be responsible for using appropriate props, backdrops, costumes, etc. to produce a realistic and believable scene. They should focus on correct pronunciation and enunciation as well as acting naturally and realistically.
6. Students will download their scenes to the iMac computers and edit them, adding titles, credits, music, voice-overs, transitions, and special effects to enhance their movies.
7. When completed, all scenes will be downloaded to a digital videotape and then transferred to a VHS format so that the students may enjoy their collective production in class.
