A Message from James
Connor,
Head of School
As head of Germantown Academy, I am
delighted to welcome you all to GA-PC Day number 116. I am looking forward to attending
each of the day's events, and I hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join
us on campus to enjoy the varied array of exciting student activities.
For those of you who are new to our schools, you
may not know that the day has grown in recent years from being simply a boys' soccer and
football contest into a multi-layered event that includes games in all of our varsity fall
sports, art displays of student work, community service initiatives, and extensive
coverage of all of the above by the Internet Clubs from both schools.
While it is true that athletic competition
remains at the heart of the day, GA-PC Day has moved from featuring that aspect only to a
fuller celebration of our status as special communities of education. How appropriate that
hundreds of alumni, parents, guests, and younger children will be here this weekend to
enjoy the inclusive nature of the event.
GA-PC Weekend is not about winning and losing. It
is about understanding, appreciating, and celebrating a 116 year old inter-generational
legacy that defines us individually and collectively as people and as schools who have a
lot to be thankful for. Now that's a legacy worth preserving. Please do so with your
attendance and your cheers.
