Academy Edition ReporterOn GA/ PC
day, a day when emotions are running high and adrenaline is flowing, the GA girls soccer
team once again came out to play. Led by senior captains Jess Chadwin, Kara Jordan, and
Christie Shaner, the patriots soared over Charter with a 7-0 victory. On a day dedicated
to seniors, it was great that three out of six seniors, Jess Chadwin, Jenna Horn, and Kara
Jordan, scored. The remaining goals were scored by Caitlin McKinney and Beth Jenson.
The team as a whole played absolutely amazingly, leaving Penn
Charter with no hope. In the defensive line Jess Dwinell, Julia Coff, and Danielle David
kept Charter from getting even one decent shot off. In the midfield, GA girls outran their
opponents, with the efforts of Kara Jordan, Jenna Horn, Chris Guinn, and Christie Shaner.
Last but not least, the attacking opportunities and efforts made by our forwards were
outstanding as always. Kellyn Zeuner, Kelly McLaughin, Beth Jenson, and Caitlin McKinney
have all contributed in the 56 goals that the GA girls soccer team has scored this
Inter-Ac season. Taylor Tess in goal has also been a big factor, making incredible saves
to shut-out many of our opponents and to keep us ahead in close games.
80 minutes after starting todays game, the season came to its
end. With a finish of a 16-3-2 season and the Inter-Ac championship for the 11th
consecutive year, our departing senior class could not have asked for or expected anything
more. Girls, keep up the great work in 2003!!!!!

Girls' Soccer: Inter-Ac Champs and
More

Germantown Academys Girls soccer
team has had amazing year so far. With a record of 15 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties it seems
that the team really has it this year. Who can deny them that since they already have
brought home the Inter-Ac title? One might ask, "this is all well and good but how
will the team do on GA/PC day?" Well, to that person Ill say this: GA already
destroyed PC this year with a 5-0 victory. Things are looking good for them on November
9th, when the two teams square off again in what looks to be another great win for GA.
The GA team is lead by seniors Jess Chadwin,
Kara Jordan, and Christie Shaner. Juniors Beth Jensen, Caitlin McKinney, and Ellen Cohn
add great play for the team. Sophomores Danielle David, Julia Coff, and Kris Guynn
continue to look like emerging stars for the team. Also, freshman goalie Taylor Test looks
like the future for this team. With strong personnel over the team, PC is going to have a
tough time stopping them from victory.
At the helm of this team are GAs own Pat Gray and
Wilson Oelkers. The guidance and wisdom of these coaches has led this team to where they
are now, and it seems like with only 2 games left (Hill and PC), the GA team will end with
an astounding 17-3-2 record and the Inter-Ac championship. Good luck to GA Girls
soccer and all the other teams on GA/PC day.
