When you begin a new document, you are presented with the New Document dialog box. This is where you set the size and color of your canvas and the image size for the new document. Each new document defaults to the settings you established in your most recent document.

Step One - Open Fireworks. When first opened Fireworks never gives you a blank page. Go to "File," select "New," select a 500 X 500 pixel page, resolution 72, select transparent radio button, and OK.

Step Two - Set up all needed palettes "Window" menu, select Tools, Strokes, Info and Styles. Move the toolbars to the left of your document, and place the others on the right. The Stokes palette contains, Objects, Fill and Effects palette all used to enhance your graphic object. A style contains built-in styles for text and graphics. A style can include attributes such as font, point size, color, fills, stroke or effect.
