TUITION

Investing in your child's future is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we are here to help in your financial planning. GA tuition is inclusive of activity and technology fees for all students. It is payable either in full or by enrolling in a 10-month or 12-month online payment plan. Additional fees are billed online each month. Tuition for the coming year is set by GA’s Board of Trustees and announced in January. An enrollment deposit is required by late winter, and payments for tuition begin each June.

Additional Fees

Families are billed for individual student charges such as school supplies, snacks and spirit wear from the School Store, school dance admission, private music lessons, student fundraisers, and Lower School after school programs. Uniforms

Dining

Dining Services are run by NexDine. Each student has a dining account, which operates on a declining balance system. Students in Grades 3 through 12 purchase food in the Dining Room and the total is automatically deducted from their individual balance. Students in K, 1st, and 2nd Grades can order lunch and have it delivered to their dining area in the Lower School. Students in PreK can order pizza on Wednesdays.

Book Service

Germantown Academy partners with MBS Direct to source and stock the exact edition of the books faculty will use in upcoming classes. Book lists will be available each July for your review.

Curriculum-Related Activities

Annual Fund

Parents are asked to support the Annual Fund, which consists of unrestricted contributions that support GA in meeting our mission and balancing the operating budget. Annual Fund gifts, in all amounts, combine to make an immediate impact - providing faculty and students with necessary curricular resources and technology, extra-curricular programming, and support services.

After School Program (Lower School)

The Supplemental Program in the Afternoon for Recreation and Knowledge (SPARK) is an after-school program designed to meet the needs of Lower School families who want a safe, structured place for their children to spend time at the end of the school day. Led by a capable team of GA faculty and staff, SPARK lets children participate in a variety of enriching, age-appropriate activities, including playground games, arts and crafts, sports, performing arts, and other creative endeavors. The SPARK schedule is designed to be flexible, offering daily after school care, extended day care on half days, full day care, and care on some days when GA is on break.

Athletics

Athletic trips and off-campus activities provide student-athletes with opportunities to compete, develop, and build team connections. Trips may include competitions, tournaments, training, or team-building experiences and may require an additional expense. Costs will be communicated in advance and may vary based on factors such as distance or number of days. Teams may also offer or require team-specific gear for competitions, trips, or team events. Any associated costs and expectations will be communicated before orders are placed.

FINANCIAL AID

Germantown Academy’s commitment to building a strong, vibrant, engaged community has been the cornerstone of our school since its founding.

In order to welcome students of all socioeconomic backgrounds, we offer financial aid in the form of a tuition grant to families of admitted students who are not able to afford the full cost of tuition. Annually, financial aid is awarded to approximately 36% of the student body.

Financial Aid Application Process

GA uses the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application, which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts.

The Clarity Application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The application is also mobile-friendly, so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools.

Families should complete the financial aid process while also completing the admission process. However, we are unable to offer financial aid awards until an offer of admission is made. Parents/Guardians are responsible for the cost of an independent school education and for completing the admission and financial aid processes for their child(ren).

For Students entering in September 2027:

You will be able to set up your account at Clarity (clarityapp.com) beginning September 1, 2026.

Financial Aid Timeline

For New GA Families entering in September 2027:

Please complete the Admission Process while you are completing the Financial Aid Process.

Financial Aid tuition grants for new students will be offered at the time of acceptance so long as families have completed the financial aid process by December 1.

Financial Aid awards will be listed on the enrollment contract.

For Current GA Families returning in September 2027:

Financial Aid awards are offered annually and therefore, families must complete the Financial Aid Process each year.

Financial Aid tuition grants for returning students will be offered at the time of re-enrollment so long as families have completed the financial aid process by November 15.

Current families who may be applying for Financial Aid for the first time will be able to note that information on their Clarity application.
Financial Aid awards will be listed on the enrollment contract.

**Families who qualify for financial aid may not be able to receive it if the amount allocated for assistance has been exhausted at the time of admission.

Financial Aid Wait Pool

Students who have been offered admission but for whom some or full aid is not available will be placed in our Financial Aid Wait Pool in the event that allocated funds recycle back to our financial aid pool.

Financial Aid Wait Pool notification will be sent with the admissions decision or as soon as the financial aid process is complete, whichever comes first.

Tuition grants meeting partial need will be offered as long as funds remain available, and families may contact the Director of Admissions, Enrollment, and Financial Aid with any questions about their allocated awards.

Families in the Financial Aid Wait Pool will be notified immediately if funds recycle.

Demonstrated Need

Completion of all steps of the Financial Aid Process allows Germantown Academy to determine a family’s financial need.
If there is supporting documentation that more clearly defines your family’s financial situation, we ask that you forward that information to be included in your financial aid file.
Families who complete the financial aid process but do not qualify for demonstrated need will be notified.
Among those who qualify for some assistance, tuition grants are allocated as students are admitted.
Germantown Academy endeavors to meet the full demonstrated need of financial aid applicants, however families who qualify may not be able to receive full aid if the amount allocated for assistance has been exhausted at the time of admission.

Divorced And/Or Separated Parents

Financial Aid awards are provided to the student.
If parents are divorced or separated, Germantown Academy requires that both parents complete their own Financial Aid process.
If there are unusual circumstances regarding their family situation or financial standing, they are welcome to contact the Director of Admissions, Enrollment, and Financial Aid for a personal conversation.

Who can apply for financial aid?

Is financial aid a loan I have to pay back?

Who makes decisions about financial aid? Will this information remain confidential?

Will I know my financial aid award before I must sign my enrollment contract?

Tuition grants are awarded at the time of admission so long as a family has completed all steps of the admission process and as financial aid funds remain available. Financial Aid awards are noted on the enrollment contract.
If a student enrollment due date precedes financial aid notification, they may enroll with the understanding that they may withdraw their contract and their deposit will be refunded if they are ultimately unable to pay their specified tuition amount.

Do I have to apply for financial aid each year?

Is there an appeal process for financial aid?

Does requesting financial aid affect a student's chance of being admitted?

Requesting financial aid does not affect a student's chance of being admitted. Germantown Academy believes strongly that advance planning is a very healthy approach to the admissions and enrollment process and it allows families to enter the process with a clear picture of their options. We offer preliminary financial aid discussions at the request of the applicant family.
