Cory EklundAssistant CoachCoach Eklund has coached soccer, fitness club, and track & field during his 12 years teaching science at GA. He played four years of high school football and ran the mile and two mile for the track team. In the field, Coach Eklund made it to the State Championship in the javelin. He has continued to train and run, completing the Newport Marathon and many half-marathons.

Debra MerskyAssistant CoachCoach Mersky has coached many sports at GA for 34 years, including softball, girls soccer, volleyball, and track & field. A beloved MS teacher at GA for 30 years, “Mersk” loves working with young athletes and seeing them develop over the course of their careers. An avid biker, Coach Mersky has participated in the MS Ride to the Shore and other local events.

Tim SpadyAssistant CoachCoach Spady is in his third year coaching Track & Field at GA and his fifth teaching MS history. A standout for The Haverford School in the sprints, Coach Spady raced in the Penn Relays and went on to run the 100 and 200 for Franklin and Marshall College. He loves working with athletes to achieve their personal bests.

Nicholas WyniaAssistant CoachBefore teaching photography in GA’s Upper School, Coach Wynia was a four-sport athlete in high school, playing football, basketball, and baseball, and running track. After earning All-State honors in football, he went on to run track for the University of Northern Iowa. In the years since, Coach Wynia has travelled extensively, living in Honduras, Italy, and Peru. He has run two marathons and biked from Philadelphia to Maine.
Home Track
Germantown Academy’s track and field facilities are all centrally located inside Carey Stadium. The track was designed so that spectators can actually watch every field event being contested. All meets use the Fully Automatic Timing (F.A.T.) System.
- Track: BSS 100 6 lane 400 meter track – installed 2011
- Field Events: 2 Long Jump & high jump pits, 2 Shot Put areas, and bi-directional Pole vault runways
