John Bernhardt concluded his fourth season as Head Coach of Germantown Academy Baseball in 2026.

Under Bernhardt’s leadership, the Patriots have shown steady growth and success. In 2026, Germantown Academy posted a 22-10 overall record and a 6-4 mark in Inter-Ac play. The 22 victories were the program’s most since 2010, and the Patriots advanced to the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) Championship Game, finishing as runners-up. The previous season, GA finished 17-10 overall and 5-5 in the Inter-Ac, placing third in the league and advancing to the PAISAA Semifinals. Four Patriots earned Inter-Ac All-League honors in 2025. In 2024, Germantown Academy finished 14-15 overall and 4-6 in league play, with two players receiving All-League recognition. During Bernhardt’s first season in 2023, the Patriots compiled a 12-15 record and placed two student-athletes on the All-League team.

Bernhardt was named Head Coach of Germantown Academy Baseball in 2023 after serving as assistant coach and pitching coach at Holy Ghost Prep and head coach of the Philly Bandits 16U program. During his time at Holy Ghost Prep, he helped guide the Firebirds to PIAA District 1 Championships in 2019 and 2021 and a State Quarterfinal appearance in 2021.

A graduate of Chestnut Hill College, Bernhardt was a four-year member of the baseball program and earned recognition on the Dean’s List and Athletic Honor Roll. He was also active in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Kappa Delta Epsilon Honor Society. Bernhardt graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in special education.

In addition to coaching, Bernhardt serves Germantown Academy as an Associate Teacher in the Lower School. His professional background includes roles in education, youth athletics, and sports management, including positions with Maplezone Sports Institute and Dugout of Chester County.
