Coaches

Kurt WetzelHead CoachCoach Wetzel has coached baseball at the youth and middle school level since 2006 and has been the GA MS Varsity Head Coach for many of those years. A soccer player at Lehigh and currently active in adult leagues, Coach Wetzel brings a wealth of athletic experience to his coaching. He has been the US Boys Varsity Soccer Head Coach since 2018, leading the Patriots to the InterAc Championship in 2021.

Matt DenceAssistant CoachCoach Dence served as GA’s Head Football Coach for 12 years, tallying the third most victories in school history and guiding the team to an Inter-Ac Championship in 2016. A coach for all seasons, Coach Dence has also coached volleyball, baseball, and golf. Prior to GA, Coach Dence coached at Georgetown, Yale, and Amherst, among others, and got his start at his alma mater, King’s College, where he was a four-year letterwinner in football.

Jim SamuelAssistant CoachCoach Samuel has been coaching at GA for seven years and has coached football and baseball for over 30 years and basketball for 25 years. Coach Samuel works with youth teams through college players and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Constructed in 2016 with our Middle School student-athletes in mind, Connor Field & Griswold Field (Field 11) is lined for soccer, baseball, and lacrosse.

- Lined for two Middle School baseball fields - 60’, 75’ and 90’ base paths with 75’ basepath inlaid turf bases
- Lined for girls lacrosse - 360x180’

- On-site parking for 50 cars plus available parking for more than 400 cars on the GA campus
